I changed the mode from AHCI to IDE, rebooted the computer and I was able to login and my issue was resolved. what shall i do? Was trying to re-install Win XP Pro on an old HP Compaq nx6310 from CD and your tip worked. HDD 2:1TB 7.4K rpm AF w/W-7 SP1 64b (1rst clean install). Anyways, with IBM laptops it is easy - go to the BIOS setup and set your SATA controller to compatibility mode. Then press "S" and select "Intel(R) ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI", press "enter" and continue the installation on your T60 ;-) Good luck. There are about 16 total different options when in the 3rd party SCSI or RAID driver screen. The CD is a copy of my companies Site License from M$, I also tried a old non OEM copy I had laying around.
